A new green project to celebrate! The RIMI MINI supermarket in Pärnu has reopened after the reconstruction as the first RIMI Eesti Food AS store in Estonia using the green cooling Hydroloop Glycol technology from FREOR. This technology was chosen with a goal to reduce energy consumption, operating costs and carbon dioxide emissions over the long term. The implementation of the project was carried out by FREOR partner in Estonia company Sisustaja OÜ.
In the new RIMI store, taking up ~600 m2 sales area, the R290-based refrigerated display merchandisers and cold rooms are connected to the water loop refrigeration system by FREOR, using the chilled glycol-water solution to remove excess condensation heat from the refrigeration equipment. The glycol solution is circulated within a closed loop of a simple hydraulic piping system, making it reliable and easy-to-install.
The Hydroloop system is connected with the heat pump, allowing the benefit of heat reclamation. Recovered waste heat is used for the entire building, and water heating needs, reducing energy costs. The synergy of the natural refrigerants-based refrigeration system and heat pump technology allowed the store to switch from oil heating to low-carbon renewable heating, a more energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly alternative.
Hydroloop Glycol system connects multidecks JUPITER and semi verticals PLUTON SPACE (32 line meters), freezer cabinets ERIDA and freezer islands HELLA (6 meters), also 5 units of RIVACOLD monoblocks for cold rooms to the same glycol line in the RIMI store, the circulation of which is ensured using the pump station.
Hydroloop refrigeration system, despite being an energy-efficient and green solution, also eliminates the need for a machinery room, thus freeing up more sales area, so it is an excellent choice for supermarkets of smaller sizes.
Sisustaja OÜ, the FREOR and RIMI partner in Estonia, has over 25 years of experience in the field of commercial refrigeration systems installation. Sisustaja OÜ is known to have installed the very first Hydroloop system in a supermarket in Estonia last year. The company has successfully designed and installed the Hydroloop cooling and heat recovery system in the RIMI store in Pärnu and is continuing to work with new climate-friendly retail cooling projects in Estonia.
