First Hydroloop Glycol Store in Asia: A Decade of Successful FREOR Refrigeration Equipment Operation

FREOR introduced its energy-efficient glycol-cooled Hydroloop cooling system 10 years ago, and since then, it has been successfully implemented in numerous supermarkets worldwide. Among the first stores to adopt this innovative technology was Golden Place supermarket in Thailand, which became the first store in Asia to do so.

Today, as the store celebrates its 10th anniversary, it continues to rely on the same FREOR commercial refrigeration equipment powered by the Hydroloop Glycol cooling system implemented a decade ago, proving its reliability and durability over time.

Hydroloop cooling system features

The Hydroloop refrigeration system, introduced in 2014, is still considered one of the most energy-efficient and sustainable cooling solutions today. The system operates on natural propane (R290) gas refrigerant, which is environmentally friendly and compliant with all refrigeration regulations even after a decade, making it a future-proof cooling solution.

The Hydroloop refrigeration system is designed to cater to the unique needs of each supermarket. It seamlessly connects multiple plug-in refrigerators, which are all fitted with all the components involved in the refrigeration cycle, including the compressor, condenser, thermoregulation valve, and evaporator, to a glycol condensing system. The system efficiently manages excess condensation heat, either by removing it through liquid pipes to the building’s exterior or by reusing it to heat the store or water, based on the supermarket’s needs. This results in significant energy efficiency and lower store operation costs.

Refrigeration equipment powered by Hydroloop

The Golden Place supermarket in Thailand was installed with FREOR universal multidecks JUPITER to display their products. The multidecks with glass doors were chosen to save even more energy, while open versions were implemented for a better shopping experience. These multidecks were designed to be flexible and adaptable, enabling the supermarket to showcase a wide variety of products that frequently changed over ten years.

“The JUPITER multidecks proved to be a valuable investment for the Golden Place supermarket, maintaining their quality and great appearance after many years of everyday use.”

Multidecks excellently adjusted to the changing product assortment, customers’ trends, and needs and continued to showcase their products effectively in an energy-efficient and sustainable way thanks to the Hydroloop Glycol cooling system. The JUPITER multidecks proved to be a valuable investment for the Golden Place supermarket, maintaining their quality and great appearance after many years of everyday use.
