FREOR Completes Its First Green Refrigeration Project in Slovakia

At the start of this year, FREOR implemented its first project in Slovakia, in the city of Košice. It provided refrigeration equipment for a new supermarket chain, Fajne Potraviny, whose ambition is to make quality food not a privilege but part of customers’ everyday story.

The chain insisted on equipment featuring both outstanding quality and an environmental approach. FREOR’s offerings checked every box on the retailer’s list.

Highly Natural Refrigerant

Fajne Potraviny chose from the large R290 & CO₂ World range of commercial refrigerators that operate with natural propane gas, known as R290.

This natural refrigerant does not affect the ozone layer and has excellent cold transmission properties. FREOR solutions with this propane are also up to 30% more energy efficient than with other refrigerants as they functions in tandem with the outdoor temperature, better ensuring optimum electricity consumption.

The chain selected different equipment from the R290 & CO2 World range for its different supermarket departments, all connected in an environmentally friendly Hydroloop Glycol cooling system that uses R290 refrigerant.

Equipment for Each Specific Need

For meat products, Fajne Potraviny chose the NEPTUN STORAGE multideck with extra space in front for product storage and hooks with price holders. For frozen pre-packed foods, it went with ERIDA upright freezers. Both refrigeration choices offer a large merchandise display at customer eye level while also being space efficient.

Each department at Fajne Potraviny has its own colourful design. To match that distinctive design, the chain chose VEGA SPACE QB LG / HG and VEGA SPACE QB H2 counters in different colours from the RAL palette for meat, pastry, and takeaway foods.

For other departments, the chain implemented JUPITER LOW FRONT multidecks, more than 38 meters in length overall. This reach-in commercial refrigerator features ample storage capacity and a large display area. It is also especially energy efficient thanks to innovative ‘dual air curtain’ technology. Air curtains prevent cold air from escaping opened JUPITER multidecks, letting customers enjoy a comfortable shopping experience without feeling any cold air.
