Hydroloop System in the Philippines – Marketplace by Rustan’s Example

2019-03-29

Three of Marketplace by Rustan`s stores in the Philippines are operating on Hydroloop refrigeration system by FREOR, which has proved to work perfectly in warm climate countries and is becoming a great alternative to the remote refrigeration system.

Ensured product quality and saved energy

Marketplace by Rustan’s stores in Manila, Philippines bring high-quality shopping experience, offering an extensive range of carefully selected items to suit its customers’ tastes. The supermarket chain also pays extra attention to its products safety and overall energy consumption of the store. Therefore, 3 of the Marketplace by Rustan’s stores at Paseo de Roxas, Corinthian Hills and Santolan Town Plaza in Manila have chosen FREOR refrigeration equipment, operating in Hydroloop system installed by COLDFRONT. The store managers already see the benefits of reduced energy bills.

The essential part of the system is the waterloop that supplies with chilled water each semi plug-in display cabinet and cold room. The heat from display cabinets and cold rooms is carried out by the water pipes and rejected by a dry cooler placed outside the premises, typically on the roof of the building. It is a quite simple, yet very reliable system, requiring only continual circulation of the water-glycol solution in a closed-cycle system, which is ensured by using a water pump.

The semi plug-in cabinets are factory-built units with hermetic build-in compressors, ensuring a low leakage rate. Installation of the system is straightforward as the semi plug-in units are factory charged with refrigerant and only need electrical and water supply to operate. Hydroloop refrigeration solution eliminates the need for a machinery room, thus freeing up more sales area.

When stores are located in warm climate countries, any refrigeration system malfunction has a substantial impact on product quality. When it happens in the remote system, there is often no prediction how long maintenance operations would take, meaning the store managers are not able to sell products during this time, and potentially experience a drop in turnover and also a loss of products.

In Hydroloop System, every refrigerated display case operates as a separate unit with its own compressor; therefore, failure in one unit does not affect the others, and potential loss of products is minimized.

Features and benefits

This system has superiority over other systems implemented in warm climate countries.

  1. Reliability and product safety. Failure in one piece of equipment does not affect the others.
  2. Prevention of store premises overheating. Condensation heat is removed through liquid pipes to the exterior of a building or could be used as an additional energy source to heat water.
  3. Cost-effectiveness. Low installation cost and reduced energy consumption.
  4. Environmental-friendliness. Refrigerant leakage close to 0. Glycol itself is an entirely food-safe, non-hazardous liquid with no negative impact on humans or nature. A solution is also tailored for natural refrigerant R290.
  5. Simplicity. Plug and play installation – only needs electrical and water supply. Eliminates the need for machinery room.
