Due to accelerating global warming and the desire to contribute to the earth’s well-being, many companies have begun to adopt greener solutions to become climate neutral.
A great example of companies that are trying to help the earth is the RIMI supermarket chain. Financial Times has announced that ICA Gruppen, which also owns RIMI Baltic, has become the environment friendliest supermarket chain in Europe. In the 2020s, RIMI has reduced CO2 emissions by 50% and minimized power consumption per square meter by 34%. RIMI has accomplished these exceptional results by installing environmentally friendly supermarkets, refrigeration equipment, and purchasing green energy.
In the last five years, RIMI Baltic has decreased the CO2 emissions 60 times; however, they are not stopping there. By 2030 they are planning to reach zero greenhouse gas emissions and produce green energy themselves.
From the year 2014, all newly built and refurbished RIMI supermarket chain shops have placed CO2 cooling systems that increase energy efficiency and reduce the negative impact of the climate by up to 400 times.
The RIMI chain seeks to ensure that even their largest suppliers have science-based emission reduction targets in place to accomplish significant results together. At FREOR, we are Thinking Green, which is why we are proud to say that RIMI has put its trust in FREOR once again. For their new RIMI Express shop in Vilnius and the refurbished RIMI Hypermarket in Šiauliai, we have supplied RIMI with the equipment suitable for the CO2 cooling system from the FREOR Green Wave CO2 range.
